about

Goldenbird Design is an interior design studio based in San Francisco, California, with a focus on high-end residential projects. The studio was founded in 2022 by McKenzy Golding, a former World Cup skier turned advertising executive turned interior designer. Her unconventional background paired with an enduring love of the California landscape informs Goldenbird’s fluid aesthetic.

about mckenzy

McKenzy believes that a well designed home can improve everyday life, and partners closely with her Clients to create highly personal spaces that serve as both aspirational and inviting backdrops to their lives. Her aesthetic is not beholden to any one era or genre, allowing the flexibility to design across architectural and personal styles, ultimately leading to bespoke spaces that uniquely embody and support the Clients who reside in them.

The one constant that informs all of Goldenbird Design’s work is a love of color, pattern and textiles, and the interplay between them that creates rich, enveloping environments designed to stand the test of time.

McKenzy’s work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Casa Vogue, Homes & Gardens, Rue Magazine, and Sunset Magazine. She lives in Marin with her husband, baby boy Ridge and their 85-pound rescue, Dog Revy. Their home has an open-door policy, where you’re sure to find them hosting Sunday night dinner with friends.

design ethos

No two Goldenbird Design spaces look the same. And we pride ourselves on that. We design from a deep understanding of our Clients’ passions and traditions paired with an appreciation for a home’s existing characteristics and surrounding environment. This approach leads to bespoke spaces that uniquely reflect the Clients who reside in them. The common thread: layered textures, colors and textiles that embody our enduring love of nature and our commitment to creating spaces that invite you to sink in and stay awhile.
